XINGU AND THE PANTANAL

A once in a lifetime chance to stay inside the Indigenous Territory of Xingu and see Jaguars in the Pantanal

Our private accommodations are inside a private 'Oca' (indigenous building of wood and fronds)
The Kalapalo village is located on the banks of the Xingu River, surrounded by pristine forest and wildlife.
This is one of the last untouched areas in the world!

During our 5 night stay, we will have 2 1/2 days of wildlife spotting along the Xingu River and 1 2/2 days devoted to cultural photography of Kalapalo daily life, traditional body paint and ceremonies.

What's included:

  • 5 nights in Xingu with the Kalapalo tribe (+1 night for travel )

  • 3 nights in Chapada dos Guimaraes

  • 6 nights in the Pantanal

Note: This trip can be customized to visit only Xingu - or the Pantanal ​

  • Transportation to and from Xingu (plus overnight in Canarana)

  • Accommodations in Tanguro, Xingu

  • 2 1/2  days of boat excursions along the Xingu River

  • 1 1/2 days of cultural photography (daily activities, body painting, ceremonies and atesan exchange)

  • Transportation from Tanguro to Chapada dos Guimaraes

CHAPADA DOS GUIMARAES

  • 2 days in Chapada dos Guimaraes, exploring Petroglyphs, Canyons and vistas, Birdwatching  and opportunities to photography macaws in flight

PANTANAL

  • 2 nights at Piuval / Rio Claro or a similar lodge along the Transpantaneira Highway 

  • 3 days in Encontro das Aguas State Park (Porto Jofre) where there are the best opportunities for Jaguar sighings and photography

ATLANTIC RAINFOREST ADD-ON IS AVAILABLE

Target animals and birds in Xingu and the Pantanal : 

  • We are likely to see and photograph various species of herons, egrets, ibises, spoonbills, kingfishers, parrots, macaws, hawks, eagles, kites, vultures, southern screamers and the greater rhea.

  • We will also target opportunities to photograph Caiman, Jaguars, Giant Anteaters, Lesser Anteater (Tamandua), Howler monkeys, Capuchins, Giant River Otters, Tapir, Marsh Deer, Crab eating foxes and the Manned Wolf.

  • Photographers and non-photographer - nature lovers

  • Physical requirements: EASY. (Short walks and boat tours) 

What's not included: 

  • Flights to or from Cuiaba

  • Hotel nights prior to, or after the tour.

  • Tips for guides and lodging staff

  • Passport fees, visas, medical costs, immunizations or insurance

  • Alcoholic beverages and bar bills (including sodas) are to be purchased directly from the lodges

  • Laundry or any personal services available through the lodges
