Focus on Photography and Conservation

​​Itinerary: 12 Nights / 12 Days   

The tour starts in Cuiaba, Mato Grosso and includes:

  • 3 Nights in Chapada dos Guimarães

    • Target species: Red and green macaws, Chestnut-eared aracari, Lettered aracari, Blue crowned trogon, Amazonian motmot, Red-capped manakin, Band-tailed manakin, Helmeted manakin

  • 3 Nights along the Transpantaneira Hwy.

    • Target species: Giant and Lesser Anteaters, Greater Rhea, Jaguars, Jabiru storks, Hyacinth macaws, Blue and yellow macaws, Seriemas, tapirs, Howler monkeys) 

  • 5 Nights Porto Jofre / Meeting of the Waters State Park.

    • Includes 4 ½ days of private boat safaris

    • Target species: Jaguars, Giant river otters, Jabiru storks, Capybara, Caiman, hawks, eagles, Southern screamers Hyacinth macaws,

  • 1 night in Cuiaba (by the Airport)​

Physical Requirements:

  • Participants must be in good physical shape and able to carry their own equipment

  • Must be able to handle  hot weather

Target species:

  • Mammals: There are 236 mammal species in the Pantanal. We will target Lesser and Giant Anteaters, Howler, Capuchin and Marmoset Monkeys, Giant River Otters, Tapirs, Marsh Deer, and of course Jaguars! 

  • Birds: There are 453 bird species - we will target some of: 5 species of Macaws, 20 species of Parrots, 13 species of Herons and Egrets, 6 species of Ibises and Spoonbills, and 5 species of Kingfishers. We will also have multiple opportunities to photograph Hawks, Eagles, Kites, Southern Screamers and the Greater Rhea.
